The foundation for landscaping is hardscaping* and stone work. It is the true link between the outside world and our homes and is the starting point of any landscape installation. It is what anchors our feet to the ground and gives us our place to live outside in the presence of our gardens. *Hardscaping refers to hard landscape materials in the built environment and structures that are incorporated into a landscape. This can include paved areas, driveways, retaining walls, or any other landscaping made up of hard wearing materials such as stone, pavers, fencing, lighting, drainage, etc., as opposed to softscape, the horticultural elements of a landscape.
